URGENT NEWS FOR .NG DOMAIN OWNERS

If you own a .NG domain name, please read this. If you have any further questions, please email your account manager.
BACKGROUND
Until recently, .NG domains were freely available to organizations in Nigeria, and Comtrends has been able to provide free registration services to our customers.
In the last week, Comtrends received a notification from NIRA alerting us that all .NG domains registered prior to 1 January 2009 would expire on 1 Aug 2009. Additionally, they are now requiring all .NG domain owners to register their domain directly with an accredited .NG register within Nigeria. There are now fees associated with the domain renewals, and these fees are set partially by the registrar
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
All domains that are not re-registered and paid with a local registrar in Nigeria will be deactivated. This is NOT a Comtrends policy, this is a NIRA policy. We are only informing you of their decision to help keep you aware of what is happening.
